Sustainability through efficiency

As provider of worldwide logistics services we connect people and companies around the globe. Consequentially we are responsible to develop innovative and sustainable logistics solutions for our customers, but also to restructure existing processes to make them more efficient and eco-friendly.

We set ourselves the target, not only to reduce our carbon footprint by using environmentally friendly carriers and by implementing KPIs to measure our CO2 emissions, but also to practice a continuous environmental management through DIN EN ISO 14001 certification.

Through selective measures we live sustainability:

  • Since 2005 ISO 14001:2004 certified
  • Use of trucks with Euro 5 standard for transportation of goods
  • Continuous driver training for resource-saving driving
  • Since 2003 member of the global compact
  • Commitment to voluntary eco-friendly measurements through “Umweltpakt Bayern”
  • Implementation of a tool and KPIs in order to measure CO2 emissions
  • Construction of green warehouses
  • Training of employees to promote an environmental awareness
  • Efficient use of energy and resources
  • Consolidation of air and sea freight shipments to reduce traffic
  • Utilization of environmentally friendly modes of transport (railway and barge) for pre- and post carriage
  • Support and use of slow steaming programs which are offered by ocean carriers
SDV, one of our shareholders is also very committed to sustainability and has developed an own program to support sustainability – the Save Program.
