80-tonne gear unit sent via air-freight to India

SDV Geis organized the shipment of an 80-tonne cement gear unit by air-freight from Cologne, Germany to Hyderabad, India. The spectacular loading procedure took seven hours to complete at Cologne/Bonn Airport, with the gear unit carried by an Antonov 124

The 80-tonne gear unit covers an area of just 4.5 x 3.5 metres

The logistics experts arranged for a mobile chassis to be brought over especially from Stansted Airport in the UK to carry the gear unit.

Thanks to the efforts of SDV Geis employees, the gear unit was securely conveyed through the 6.40-metre-wide and 4.40-metre-high „nose door“ of the Antonov and into the aircraft‘s cargo hold.
